A favorite cookie at our house. They taste and smell old fashioned to me.
Snickerdoodles
~slightly adapted from Better Homes and Garden cookbook
3 3/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter- softened a
little
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
Grease cookie sheets. Stir together flour,
soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Beat butter for a minute, add the 2 cups of
sugar and beat till fluffy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla, beat well. Add dry
ingredients to beaten mixture, beating till well combined. Form dough into 1
inch balls, roll in a mixture of the 4 T sugar and cinnamon. Place 2 inches
apart on cookie sheet, flatten slightly. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes or until
light golden brown. Makes about 66 cookies.
